The fragmented few

Very few would ascend to the fact that more often than not they exist in a fragmented state. What belies this denial? Why is it necessary? The answers lie right there with the questions. Denial is a selfish, cowardly moment of acceptance of the trait, which further, because of our inborn, ingrained insecurities, forces the mask of completion and congruency to come to the fore. With increasing pressures on our character and expected confidence, we create a magical world – complete in itself. Not realizing that all of the inadequacies are covered by things which remain farcical and imaginary, both to us and the world around. And to keep their own insecurities in check and their dream world intact, the ones around us keep up this charade.
What is complete? Is a nail complete without the underlying flesh and the finger to which it is attached? Is the finger complete without the hand that bears it, or the hand without the body or the body without its surroundings? A portrait in isolation can be complete if the lights and shadows so created create a world of supposed seclusion.
Few who desire to understand this fragmentation, realize quite early that this is a foolish pursuit - difficult, demanding and non-gratifying. So they create illusions of a fragmented world and search for creative options to reflect and share the world so created by them, to the general public. They seek to confirm their perceptions of such fragmentation. And though their worlds no truer than the worlds of the others, at least they desire for the unknown - a path unmapped!
A fragmented world so created needs to be defragmented frequently and then broken down again and again, and reconstructed to form newer, richer and more vivid vistas.

  1. Defragmentation (chaos) and seeing pattern(regrouping) from it is what adds flavour to this life. This is what is responsible for generation of new ideas and perspectives.
This i feel is the basic nature of mother nature as well.
life emerges from basic elements(regrouping) followed by growth and development and then death and decay(breakdown once again to basic elements)as well.
And from these ashes again rises a new life(thought,Viewpoint....) and cycle continues.
    This is also scientifically true.
law of thermodynamics clearly states entropy(randomness) always increases
Even while following this law new and more complex reactions take place creating ever complex molecules and reactions.(order from Chaos)
Even our book of life also follows this principle.
The DNA uncouples and breaks down into randomness to again recombine to form new life code of babies.in this process generating slight changes which we call mutations leading to evolution(similar to new ideas from randomness)
    Going deeper what appears as total chaos on surface can be perfectly represented by fractals(which represent perfect order){chaos theory}
I feel defragmentation is a profound theme which can aptly summarise abstracts in our life.
It also aptly summarises our struggle to be accepted as we grow up.
Again to sum up my views ,a child is a complete personality in all respects pure, unconditioned and unbiased, whereas adolescence and youth is a state of restlessness where the moral degradation and conditioning(fragmentation) takes place followed by old age(experiance)which can be termed as regrouping or emergence of wisdom, order or any thing.

PS(I am known for my RPJ's and Aakshat has to bear with a max number of them. Thanks for being patient enough to read through my fragmented thoughts.Hope you can see a pattern emerge out of them:-)

  2. RJ Thnx for sharing your viewpoint; a very scientific viewpoint. Reading your comment asures me that what happens to be my view is at least akin to yours, my friend. You have though brought in newer and diffrent theories into the conversation. Let's see how this link progresses.

  3. Thanks for putting the different perspective on the whole fragment deal, and its more a philosphical take rather a scientific one. And anyways science and philosophy are intertwined.
My take on the fragments is a bit on the social level , but it does root from a philosphy of my life,a thing is always bigger than the sum of its parts. But take away a small fragment and watch the thing crumble.
So often a fragment is disregarded just because it might be miniscule in the context of the ‘the bigger picture’ .
But like no democracy works properly without taking in considerations the minorities( the smaller fragments). Just like that, many a times. To understand the working and even appreciate the thing as itself, one should appreciate the fragments.
Like when studying drawing and paint, a wise teacher always mentions to break down the forms in less inconspicuos simpler shapes , the building blocks like cubes, cyclinders and spheres is avoided when that can be done because it can be very easily dis integrated to further shapes and planes that are formed by cubes and cylinders.
The spectrum of colors made by the mixture of three primary colors, cyan, magenta and yellow.

And I have also seen that looking at the whole of life and world around us through what seems a fragment of it (in my case its art) , helps us understand the complexities in life and understand that the web is only at the surface.
Fragments are perhaps a filter for the the entire thing?
who knows, because even the fragment in itself is an entity, and hence has fragments, so how deep would you dig?
